The Social Workers at Forest Town School work with learners with identified emotional or social problems that are impacting on their daily functioning at home or at school. Social Work services at Forest Town School take the form of direct services, group work and/or community work.

Examples of the direct services include: psycho social assessments with the child and the family, identification and intervention in cases of sexual, physical, emotional abuse and neglect, and play therapy for working through emotional issues. Examples of group work are: self-esteem, life skills and bereavement groups.

Community work involves assessing the social, economic and psychological circumstances of the family and the community in order to foster empowerment and development.
